I can now reveal my debut commission!

My client requested a commissioned piece of artwork for her husband's Christmas gift that would feature the head of a friesian cow on a plain background.

I had to go a little further afield (excuse the pun!) to source the perfect friesian as it was already rather Autumnal weather and most friesian cows were already tucked up in their sheds for the winter.

On a day trip through Oxfordshire, I happened upon a muddy field filled with a herd of friesians.
This lovely chap was sporting a gentle smile, so I immediately knew that he was to be my chosen cow!

Whilst working on the cow, it occurred to me that the ear tag would be the perfect way for my client to add her bespoke element to the image and gives it that finishing touch.

The piece was presented to my client's husband for Christmas, and he was over the moon! The artwork now hangs in his home office with pride of place.

Soft and cuddly Seasonal sock monkeys

I've just finished making the last of the Seasonal sock monkeys for this year! These cheeky brothers were unwrapped by their new owners (also a pair of cheeky brothers!) and among the squeals of delight, were promptly given the names 'Cheeky' and 'Bob'!

Farewell Westbury - till we meet again

My three month studio lease at Westbury Arts Centre has flown by and and with my newly-renovated studio at home nearing completion, now's a good time to make the move out of Studio 13 and start to get settled into my new creative space.

A massive heartfelt THANK YOU to all the lovely artists at Westbury who have made me, and Tommy the dog, feel so welcome. I truly felt part of the family, so it's hard to say farewell. Tommy and I will also miss our forest walks through Shenley Wood.

I'll certainly be staying in touch with everybody and plan to run more kids craft workshops during the New Year :)

A Successful Seasonal Fayre was had by all!

I had a fantastic time holding a craft stall at The Westbury Arts Centre Seasonal Fayre. There was a fabulous festive atmosphere and it was lovely to meet the other stall holders. More than 24 children took part in my workshop making Crafty Christmas Tree decorations.
The roadside balloons drew people's attention

Fantastic tree decorations made by the children.
A brother and sister made this fab pair of tree decorations.

My Debut Exhibition!

Today is a true milestone in my artistic journey. My first series of paintings are now on display at Hair Co 2 hairdressers at 26 Market Square in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.

The artworks are unique as each animal themed piece picks out colours from selected BED HEAD styling products used by the salon.

A huge thank you to owner Lesley and all the team at Hair Co 2 for their support with this project, as you can see the work looks fantastic displayed in this fresh bright space.

Geometries MK @ MK Gallery Project Space

Throughout October I am displaying 'MK Waterways', an embroidery piece that uses wool, tapestry thread, beads and recycled fabric.

Walking the canal paths and waterways of Milton Keynes with my dog, I love seeing the changes to the landscape throughout the seasons. This piece reflects the colours and gives a feel for the natural textures that surround these beautiful waterways.

The work is part of the 'A5 Creative Challenge' displayed at Geometrics of Milton Keynes, an exhibition in the MK Gallery Project Space. The exhibition celebrates the structure and cultural diversity of Milton Keynes.

Studio Space

A chance to spread my creative wings!

Today I moved my easel, furniture, paints and crafty bits into a studio at Westbury Arts Centre, a 17th Century farmhouse at Shenley Wood, Milton Keynes. I'll spend the next exciting 3 months based at the centre working alongside a group of creatives who work in wide range of disciplines: textiles, pottery, stone carving, photography and painting to name a few.

2 inch Canvas Challenge

Having joined the MK Arts Central community I had my induction session today and little did I know that a mini challenge awaited me in the shape of a 2 inch canvas!

After a couple of attempts at displaying a mini colour wheel, I'd wiped the canvas clean and in the midst of remaining paint splodges spontaneously appeared a mini pair of kookaburras! Adding a cheeky look to the eyes and a warming gold glow were the perfect finishing touches for this miniature piece.
