Revaling my latest commission painting...Grayson the wise!

It's Christmas Day and that means the moment you have been waiting for has arrived!

It's the unveiling of my latest commission painting...so I introduce you to...
Grayson the wise!

The piece needed to work in harmony with the decoration of my customer's hanging space so I worked with a restricted colour palette using tones of grey, white and black plus a hint of yellow for the eyes and a dash of silver highlights to catch the light.

This beautiful Great Grey Owl is one of a pair that I photographed, along with many other gorgeous animals at Cotswold Wildlife Park, Burford

Keep an eye out for more wild creaturese in my future work!

Festive Fun at the Westbury Arts Centre Winter Fayre!

A fun day had by all at Westbury Arts Centre's Winter Fayre today,
great to see some old faces and meet new ones too!

I was lucky to have neighbouring stall holders, Jeremy Turner and BucksVision.

Jeremy displayed his colourful array of hand carved wooden items.
Bucks Vision had their debut stall selling their beautiful hand dyed silk scarves, ties and handmade jewellery all made by visually impaired people in MK, amazing!

I had a stall on the upstairs landing selling limited edition prints, greeting cards, handmade gifts and also demonstrated the craft of needle felting.

Fuzzy Fun at my Needle Felting workshop - Sunday 15th November

I had a lovely group of students at today's workshop, themed around the upcoming festive season.
All students were new to the craft and in only a day, they had made some really beautiful pieces that they could all be proud of; from leaves and flowers, to gnomes and animals! ‪

Recycled Tweetie: Share a Bird Project

At the end of August, I posted off a bird to the ‪#‎AccessArt‬ Share A Bird Project.
All gifted birds are then posted out to schools to inspire groups of children to be creative.
My 'Recycled Tweetie' is made from scraps of fabric and thread, embroidered using dissolving fabric, then the edges and eye were hand stitched. The aim of this bird is to encourage kids to recycle materials to give old scraps of fabric a new lease of life!

Today children from Grandtully Primary school in Perthshire received their bird!

September Needle Felting Workshop

I'm so proud of students who joined our fun needle felting workshop last Wednesday.
Both were complete beginners to the craft, so we first covered the main shaping techniques before working on a piece of floral felt art. Take a look at their beautiful work - stunning!

Outdoor Arts in MK

Today I've been painting murials on MK underpasses with the team at ‎Festive Road‬ and local kids from Charles Warren Academy, ready for the Rugby World Cup to be held at MK Stadium!
Loved working with the team to create these giant outdoor murials - please note that we did have permission from MK Council before we started!

Needle Felting for Beginners

This evening I tutored a needle felting workshop with a group of ladies at my local sewing group.
After showing everyone examples of my needle felt work, the ladies were soon inspired to create their own lovely pieces.
Leather finger protectors for the hand near to the needle!

All being new to the craft of needle felting, the ladies first gained confidence with techniques used to make simple 2d shapes. We used layers of soft Merino wool and attached them onto flat felt using the special barbed needles.

We then moved onto creating 3d forms using handy templates that can be found in most kitchens - yes pastry cutters. Hearts and teddy bears were the favourite choices! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed learning a new craft and are eager to have another session soon.
